To use or not to use image stabilization?

I've heard different opinions on this. I will be shooting some youth sports soon. Typically outdoors in daylight. Soccer, little league baseball and pop warner football. My shutter speeds will be at minimum of 400 and usually quite a bit higher and want to do some continuous shooting. Does the I.S. have any effect when shooting continuous mode and/or does it slow down the frame rate potential? Any pro or cons or recommendations are appreciate. If relevant, I shoot with Canon gear.
