I bought a sigma 18-125 mm lens?

recently it started making a loud revving noise when image stabilization is on but when i have it off the noise doesnt happen and no im no the loud noise is not the motor because i can hear the motor and it is fine.. the revving noise only happens when image stabilization is on and when i have auto focus switched on . is the lens defective? it wasnt doing this last week
